After having worked as a Registered Nurse for 8 years, I decided to become a counselling therapist so that I could help people heal more than the physical alone. Having gone through my own healing journey, I discovered that while talk therapy alone is very helpful, it had limitations. This led me to learn Heart Centered Hypnotherapy, Holy Fire Reiki, Somatic Experiencing, Breathwork and Intuitive Readings, so that I could combine the mind, body and spirit to healing.

Developing intuition and Psychic Abilities
Connecting to your intuition can be a deeply personal and unique experience. I remember when I started to develop my intuitive abilities, I was so afraid intrigued at the same time. In the beginning, it was very personal and it felt like a very vulnerable place to explore. I was afraid to tell anyone that I was on a spiritual journey and that I was developing my intuition, whatever that meant to me. Along the way, I had decided to learn about doing readings, which required telling people. While it was strange in the beginning, it eventually became part of my normal life. What I have discovered along the way is that choosing to share a spiritual journey with others is a personal choice and isn’t required unless you choose to work with people with your gift. Everyone has intuition and the innate ability to connect psychically. Just like playing the piano, it is something that we can all learn to do.
Your intuition is communicating with you
I initially thought that being psychic or having intuition was something that was special and that people either had naturally or not. However, I quickly learned that while connecting to it is very fun, it is something that we actually do on a daily basis and that we might just not be aware that it is intuition. In fact, when I started to learn, I thought that I had to learn and create something that was completely new and learn a completely new skill. I soon discovered that this was somewhat false. In fact, we simply need to learn how intuition is already communicating with us. While there is a part that requires practice and time, trusting what is already happening and learning how your intuition is communicating with you is the biggest piece of the puzzle. In fact, most of the communication happens through the senses, such as through feelings, inner hearing, imagination, thoughts and sometimes inner smells (smelling the perfume of a lost loved one randomly). Very rarely will people communicate with information through the physical senses.
What is intuition
Intuition is sensation that is usually hard to describe. For example, you might get the feeling that you should not do a certain thing, and that you can’t really explain why, it’s just a feeling that tells you. For a lot of people, it will be a feeling in the pit of the stomach. It is a bit different than anxiety, as anxiety often will relate to a story or a fear about the future and what might happen. On the other hand, intuition might guide you more pleasantly where you feel pulled or guided a certain direction. You may or may not know why that is until you do it. If you can relax your body and the mind, it can be easier to obtain information. You can do so by taking a few deep breaths to calm your nervous system. Deep, mindful breathing can help you become more present and receptive to your intuition.
Psychic Abilities
Building intuition is part of building psychic abilities. It mostly comes from the same place, it’s just that you can use specific techniques to look into the future or read other people. There are specific techniques that you can try as well to connect you psychically, and I would recommend Debra Katz’s book “You Are Psychic” as she goes in great details about it. However, you can play games such as putting a deck of cards facing down, choosing one card and trying to connect to it, either by touching it and allowing the information come to you (pay attention which way (hearing, knowing, seeing, feeling). If you are wrong, it does not mean that you do not have psychic abilities. This takes time and practice, and while objects hold energy, it can be harder to read them than it is people. Another exercise is to ask your guides in the morning about one thing that might happen. If possible, quiet your mind through meditation, breathing techniques, etc. before getting the answer. This can help step out of your logical mind and into your intuition. Initially, it takes more effort to connect to information, and the more you learn to go in the state of flow and out of your logical mind, the easier it gets to transition in and out of that state.
Few extra tips
Create a Quiet Space: Find a peaceful and quiet space where you won't be disturbed. This could be a dedicated meditation spot, a corner of your room, or even a favorite outdoor spot in nature. When you consistently go into that space, it can send the signal to spirit, your mind and body that you are about to do a reading or connect with your intuition. Some people like to do a ritual by lighting a candle in the beginning and blowing it out at the end to end the reading.
Protect your space: It is important to protect your space, and there are many ways to do so. One of them is by imagining a while light pillar in each end of your space and right in the center, and see them all connect. You can ground those big pillars to the center of the earth. Then, you can ask the Holy Spirit or archangel Michael to protect your space with white light. You can see them filling your room with white light. It’s okay if you do not believe in them, or have different spiritual beliefs. They are great protectors so they will get the job done, or you can call on other protector beings to bring white light if you choose to do so. Finally, you can ask the information to come only from white light and higher beings. Some people like to do a little prayer or ask certain guides or angel to communicate with them or protect them. Just like you would probably not throw a house party and invite the entire world, it’s important to not invite just any spirits in your space.
Meditation: Regular meditation practice can be a powerful way to connect with your intuition. Focus on your breath, clear your mind, and allow thoughts and feelings to arise without judgment. Pay attention to any intuitive insights that come up during meditation. You can ask particular questions and see what comes. Be patient and don’t force the answer. This just helps to get into the feel of the flow of information, as information comes in and can better be access in a meditative state. But it is not an absolute must.
Journaling: Keep a journal dedicated to your intuition. Write down any hunches, gut feelings, or intuitive insights you have throughout the day. Review your journal periodically to see if any patterns or themes emerge. Some people like to write a question and just let all information flow in answer to that question. You can also just write without thinking what you are writing and let it flow.
Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness in your daily life. Pay attention to your senses and the present moment. When you're fully engaged in the here and now, you're more likely to notice intuitive signals and possibly notice emotions that might not belong to you.
Connect with Your Body: Pay attention to bodily sensations. Sometimes, your body can provide important intuitive signals. Notice any tension, relaxation, tingling, or discomfort in different parts of your body.
Practice Patience: Developing your intuition takes time and practice. Don't get discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Trust the process, and be open to learning from your experiences.
Seek Feedback: Share your intuitive insights with trusted friends or mentors and ask for their feedback. Sometimes, an outside perspective can help you understand and validate your intuitions. However, if they dismiss it, it does not mean that you are wrong. It might be coming from the state that you were in when the information came in, they might not understand the information yet if it is in the future, and it could also be the interpretation that is a bit off. I practice for a year before I learned to trust it.
Learn from Mistakes: It's okay to make mistakes while exploring your intuition. Use these experiences as opportunities for growth and learning. Over time, you'll become better at discerning true intuition from other thoughts and feelings. Also, pay attention to when you had accurate hit, as these are clues to how information comes to you. The more you have hits, the more you can start to trust and connect to the information that is coming to you.
Remember that intuition is a personal and subjective experience. What works for one person may not work for another. Be patient with yourself and open to the ways in which your intuition may reveal itself to you.
